WP7: Infrastructure, Services and Civil Engineering

WP7 oversees the design, procurement, installation and commissioning of the technical services, infrastructure and civil engineering activities linked to the HI-ECN3 project.

It comprises and coordinates the contributions from several different groups and departments, including:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Gas Distribution and Controls
  • Cooling and Ventilation
  • Electrical and Fiber infrastructure
  • Cryogenics
  • Survey & Alignment
  • Handling Systems & Operational Support

Many aspects of the infrastructure and services are already partially covered under the scope of consolidation as part of the NA-CONS project in Work Category 4. An important responsibility of this work package during the Technical Design phase is to identify synergies between the NA-CONS and HI-ECN3 projects and to find solutions that make efficient use of the available resources and to reduce the total cost to both projects. As the Technical Design phase evolves, the work package is responsible for converging on compatible infrastructure, services and civil engineering solutions in close collaboration with the other work packages and the ICEA.

The WPL is charged with the coordination of the R&D effort as part of the Technical Design phase and to ensure, in collaboration with the HI-ECN3 project office, the delivery of the Technical Design Report and related Work Package descriptions to converge on an updated scope, with cost and resource estimates, and project schedule.
